Basic information

Reduced speed warnings are displayed in Waze when the following conditions are met:

  • There is an active route.
  • There is a speed difference >= 35km/h between 2 consecutive segments of the actual route.
  • Both segments have the same road type and are navigable (pedestrian segments don't apply).
  • The segments road type is not a "Ramp" (the warning is not displayed in Ramps).

In many cases, these warnings should not appear in the app because some segments have incorrect speed limits, or there is an intermediate speed limit that reduces the speed more gradually.

This script helps detect these errors.

Limitations

  • Currently, the script only supports speeds in the Metric System (km/h).

Script usage

Once installed, the script will start displaying speed signs at every node where at least one pair of segments meets the conditions described above.

If multiple reduced speed warnings are possible at a node, the script will display the lowest speed.

Configuration

In the Scripts tab the following configuration is available:

  • Show/hide the reduced speed signs from all the nodes.
  • Min zoom at which the script starts displaying the speed signs (16 or higher).
