Automatically ensure closed captioning is on for every Youtube video
< Feedback on Auto Closed Captioning for Youtube
I realize this is off-topic, but for those that might be interested in disabling CC altogether, you can use this method below to turn that annoying garbage off once and for all!!!
If you're not already using the add-on, uBlock Origin, you will need to install it. Once installed, open up uBlock Origin and go to the 'dashboard' settings and then go to the 'My filters' tab. Under the 'My filters' tab, paste the line I will provide below in the window for custom filters and click the 'Apply changes' button at the top to save.
NOTE: This method does not turn CC off, it simply prevents the CC from being seen on the video. So, even if you manually turn CC on in the YouTube player, you will not be able to see it. To regain the use of CC, simply delete the line that you copy/pasted into uBlock Origin, click the 'Apply changes' button and then refresh your browser. If refreshing doesn't work, then shut it down and restart it. One last thing, I'd suggest that you copy/paste this line to a text file and save it for quick reference if you ever need it again.
copy/paste this line into uBlock Origin add-on---> www.youtube.com##.ytp-caption-window-container
UPDATE: Just found out that the creator of the add-on called 'YouTube Enhancer' just added the option to automatically disable the CC for YouTube videos, YAY!!! :D
The homepage for the add-on is here---> https://github.com/YouTube-Enhancer/extension
It's also up on the Firefox add-on's website if you wanna get it that way.
Hello, I was wondering if there's a way to edit this script to make it do the opposite, and always disable the CC on YouTube whether I'm logged into my account or not? And if there's a way, how do I go about doing that? Please and thank you very much!
You see, in most cases I do not require CC to be enabled, and I find it HIGHLY ANNOYING when it's automatically enabled on some videos. This happens to me even when I'm logged into my YouTube account and have CC turned OFF in my custom settings.
I've looked and looked for a way to permanently disable CC on YouTube for the past few years now, and sadly, I can't find anything that'll do this for me. So when I saw this script here, I figured there might be a way to reverse this script to automatically turn CC off on every video I see on YouTube, whether I'm logged into my account or not. I'm really hoping that somebody can please help me with this. Thanks for any and all help with this issue! ^^/
